2009 Sauvignon BlancAnother great season, slightly cooler than 2008, which produced high levels of natural acidity. Hand picked as always this wine is typical of our vineyard it has aromas of cut grass, nettles, citrus peel and a backbone of passionfruit. Leading to a long intense and vibrant palate with more weight and texture as a result of 6 weeks lees contact and a lingering finish that smacks of cool climate freshness.

Our high altitude site has always produced ripe flavors but they are achieved with high levels of natural acidity. Is it Gris or Grigio? Hand picked as always the fruit was gently pressed and only free run juice retained. This crisp clean style expresses cut pear with hints of apple and rhubarb and a mineral undertone. The palate is richly textured and the finish is long and clean with a zest of grapefuity acidity. We have been surprised how these wines retain their freshness for many years so we expect that this will continue to improve even into 2011.

Another great season; slightly cooler than 2008, just perfect for Riesling. Light straw green, this wine has delicately perfumed talc and fresh cut lime aromas, a delicious smack of lime juice on the palate. Finishing long and clean with the perfect balance of acidity and the barest hint of sweetness.
Attractive as it is now, this wine will develop richer honeyed notes as it matures.
Drink now to 2019.

The wine has lifted fruit aromas of peach and fresh apricots, a palate both taut and tight with an unusual freshness and vitality and a finish clean and zesty with a delicious tang of peach sorbet. It is an ideal accompaniment with fresh fruits and fruit salads or serve chilled as an aperitif any time.

A challenging season, post the 2007 drought, the vines flourished with higher than average rainfall, and cool ripening towards the end of the season intensified the fruit flavours and delivered this fresh and elegant wine. Musk, a little honeysuckle and lemon blossom overlay a restrained yet subtle palate with lively balancing acidity. This wine loves a good curry. It will become richer and broader with 2-3 years cellaring.

Nik's Folley
Nik is not a fan of Australian Chardonnay's, but loves the French version of Chablis.
So we decided to make our 2006 in this style, crisp, dry and without wood. This was a gamble,as our winemaking team had never approached Chardonnay this way, it was both exciting and challenging.
The result; a delicate wine, with mineral characters, finely structured and taut. This ultra dry style is great with delicate foods, like sushi, sashimi, and shellfish, serve nice and cold.

7.4 Standard Drinks
This season showed the strengths of our high altitude vineyard, with most of the country ravaged by drought we had one of our best vintages. Picked slightly earlier than previous years, the wine is highly perfumed with strawberry, cherry and red currants and complex mushroom and forest floor notes, layered with a spicier character not seen before.
The palate is bright and delicious with deceptive length and a fine tannin finish. A great summer or winter drink with salmon / duck and pork

Merlot thrives in our vineyard; always hand picked it was then fermented in small open vats that are gently hand plunged. Followed by a relaxing 15 months in Frech oak. The nose reveals plum, strawberry and lick of liquorice, the palate is soft and rounded and has fine, supple tannins and well balanced acidity. Drink now to 3-4 years.
